Surah Al-Kauthar and Hazrat Bibi Fatimah (AS)

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Assalamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH

You should never think that you have more than someone else, because there might come a time when that person has more than you. Remember it is through the blessing of Allah that you have what you have.

Bibi Fatimah Zahra ( Radi Allahu anha) was born to Bibi Khadija ( Radi Allahu anha) and the Prophet ( Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam). Before her birth, the Prophet ( Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) had had two sons, Qasim Radi Allahu anhu and Ibrahim Radi Allahu anhu, but both boys had died when they were babies.

The Prophet ( Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) had started teaching the message of Islam and had made many enemies. As a result, some of the unbelievers began to make fun of him at the death of his sons, calling him “Abtar”.

The word Abtar means an animal that has no tail – and was meant to say that the Prophet ( Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) was tail-less because he had no children to carry on his family.

Thus, when Bibi Fatimah ( Radi Allahu anhu) was born, the following Sura of the Holy Qur’an was revealed:”In the Name of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, the most Kind, the most Merciful. Verily (O Muhammad Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam),We have given you Kauthar. So pray to your Lord and give sacrifice. Verily, your enemies will be Abtar.” Surah al-Kauthar, (108:1-3)

When the Noble Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) ( Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) was asked what Kauthar meant, he replied that it was a stream in heaven and the man who would give water from that stream to the believers was Imam Ali ( alayhis ‘salam). He then said that Kauthar also meant abundance, and the birth of Bibi Fatimah ( Radi Allahu anhu) signified that, through her, his descendants would be in abundance.

The promise of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala was certainly true because today, there are countless descendants of the Prophet ( Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam), (Sayyids) while there is nobody who claims to be a descendant of the Quraish. Thus the enemies of the Noble Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) ( Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) were those who became truly “Abtar”.

This Surah in the Holy Qur’an is thus a reference to Bibi Fatimah ( Radi Allahu anhu).

Prayers of Sayyidina Imam Zainul Abedin (AS)

Prayers of Sayyidina Imam Zainul Abedin (AS)

After the shahaadat of his blessed father Imam Hussain (radi Allahu anhu), he completely divorced himself from the materialistic world. He spent all his time in the remembrance of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. He would pass his days and nights thinking of the tragedy of Karbala and weeping. When Hazrat Imam Zainul Abideen (radi Allahu anhu) used to sit down to perform wudhu, then his face used to become pale, and when he stood in Namaaz, then his complexion would change to such an extent, that it would be difficult to recognise him. The people would ask, “O Beloved of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam! What has happened to you?” and he said, “O People! Namaaz is a time when you are present in the Court of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. Who is so naive as to smile and look happy, when he is standing before his Creator.” [Awaariful Mu=aarif pg.475]

He used to perform one thousand rakaats of nafil salaah every night. One night whilst he was performing his nafils, his house caught on fire. The people were rushing around trying to put of the fire, but he continued his Namaaz with total sincerity. After he completed his salaah, the people told him that his house had caught on fire and yet he continued reading his Namaaz without any showing any sign of panic. He said, “You were trying to extinguish this fire, and I was trying to extinguish the fire of the hereafter.” [Khazinatul Asfiyah vol.1 pg.31]

Imam Talha Shafi=i (radi Allahu anhu) writes that once shaitaan appeared in the form of a snake whist the Imam was in Salaah. He caught the toe of Hazrat Imam Zainul Abideen Radi Allahu anhu in his mouth, but the Imam Radi Allahu anhu did not even move or show sign of discomfort. After some time, he became disillusioned and stood a distance away from the Imam Radi Allahu anhu. Then, a voice was heard thrice, saying the following words, “You are the Jewel of the Worshipper, You are the Chief of those who prostrate (to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala).”

Martyrdom of Sayyedina Ali Akbar (AS)

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam

Anna Ali ibnul Hussain ibne Ali nahnu Ahlul Baite aulaad an-Nabi Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam

Sayyedina Aaqa Imam Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhusaid to Sayyedina Aaqa Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu, ‘O My father! Let me go out into the battlefield for I don’t want to live if you are slain.’

Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu said. ‘O my son! You are the mirror image physically of the beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam. We look at you and satisfy our desire to see the beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam. By sending you I am sending image of the beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallamout of my home. Don’t go they are after my blood.’

But Hazrath Sayyedina Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhu said, ‘I would also go there where my brother Qaasim Radi Allahu anhu is. Let me go and quench my thirst in paradise. Please send me out with your blessings.’ Who was going out, it was the life of Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu, the apple of the beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam eye, the flower of paradise from the garden of Bibi Fatimah Zahra and the Hazrat Ali Sher-e-Khuda Radi Allahu anhum.

Sayyedina Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhu recited the following as he went into the battlefield:

Anna Ali ibnul Hussain ibne Ali nahnu Ahlul Baite aulaad an-Nabi

I am Ali the son of Hussain, who is the son of Ali Murtuza we are the Household of the Beloved prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam, most loved by the Beloved prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam

He faced the enemy and said, ‘I am Ali Akbar, the son of Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhum, O slayers of the Prophets Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam Household, destroyers of the flowers of the garden of Bibi Fatimah Zahra Radi Allahu anhu, have my blood on your hands also. Fire your arrows.’

The enemy were so confused that they could not fire an arrow or lift a sword. Amr bin Saad, said to them, ‘ What is the matter, why do you not slay him. I promise the governorship of Mosul.’ Taariq bin Sheesh, a well-built and merciless warrior, thought here is my chance to become governor of Mosul. He charged Hazrath Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhu with his spear. Hazrath Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhu moved his horse to one side, changed direction and cut off the head of Taariq bin Sheesh. Seeing this his son Umar bin Taariq attacked the Imam sword drawn, but he too was slain. The other son, Talha bin Taariq also tried to attack, but was killed by Hazrath Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhu. When the three had been slain, Hazrath Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhu turned his horse around and went back to his father, Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu. His father approached him and Hazrath Ali Akbar Radi Allahu anhu dismounted and said, ‘ Thirst has slowed me down or else if I had a glass of water to drink, I will send every one of them to hell. I have slain three of their warriors but my mouth and throat is dry, and I am finding it difficult to breathe.’

Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu consoled him asking him to have a little more patience for soon he will reach paradise and quench his thirst with the water of Kauthar. He embraced his son and asked him to open his mouth and Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu put his dry tongue into his son’s mouth. He sucked the blessed tongue of his father and this gave him some satisfaction to return to the battlefield. He proved it in the battlefield that he was the grandson of the Conqueror of Khyber, Hazrath Ali Radi Allahu anhu, and in his blood and arms was the strength of Hazrath Ali Radi Allahu anhu. He killed eighty Yazidis before being severely wounded and then martyred. As he fell from his horse he exclaimed, ‘O my father! Catch me your son is falling.’

As Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu ran towards his son’s body and before he could reach him, he saw that his son had been decapitated. Hazrath Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu stood crying at his sons body crying and then he carried the body to the tents. Hazrath Zaynab Radi Allahu anha came out of the tent looked at the body and said; “these tyrants have obliterated ‘the resemblance of the beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam”.

Imam Hussain Radi Allahu anhu took his sister by the hand and led her into the tent. He asked her to be patient for everything that is happening is happening with the will of Allah.

He said, ‘We have got to pass this test of patience and endurance for it is from Allah.

May Countless Salutation’s and Durood be upon our Master Sayyedina Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam, Ahle Bayt Al athar and all the Martyr’s of Karbala.
